Chapter 2: Reading Research

For this topic you will first examine the four reading research initiatives that inform current practices in the teaching of reading. The goals for current reading programs are outlined in No Child Left Behind and Reading First, initiatives that are still in place until Congress reauthorizes an updated initiative.

After examining these initiatives, you will delve into the Psychology of Reading and the Literacy Learning Theories. Each set of theories has been used in the creation of programs to teach children to read.
