6 How do I Draw a Conclusion?

In drawing conclusions (making inferences), you are really getting at the ultimate meaning of things – what is important, why it is important, how one event influences another, and how one happening leads to another. Simply getting the facts in reading is not enough. You must think about what those facts mean to you.

Steps in Drawing Conclusions:
  1. Review all the information stated about the person, setting, or event.
  2. Next, look for any facts or details that are not stated, but inferred.
  3. Analyze the information and decide on the next logical step or assumption.
  4. The reader comes up with a conclusion based on the situation.
