A Note from the Editorial Team…

This was a tough year. When there is a lot of change all at once, we often look for things to anchor us. By pushing through with Volume 7 of Howard Community College’s Journal of Research in Progress (JRIP), we hope that the continuity in publication despite being in the throes of transition ourselves can be an anchor of sorts for those who may need one.

As with past years, were it not for dedicated student researchers, artists, mentors, faculty, staff, and all their support systems, this collection of peer-reviewed articles and artwork could not have come to fruition. For the first time we were able to engage a number of interested non-author student peer reviewers. There were also new faculty, staff, and administrators helping out with peer review alongside an equal number of veteran readers. At the same time, challenges we encountered along the way both highlight opportunities to improve access and involvement for all and suggest the need for clearer processes in general.

We’re thankful to keep JRIP going another year and look forward to continued growth and improvement for Volume 8.

In gratitude and service,

The JRIP Editorial Team
