“Embedded”

Embedded is an expression that lies between revealing urgency caused by pervasive environmental pollutants and a void of self because of it. The exposure to microplastics and nanoplastics, I believe, is too often dismissed by many citizens and our culture as a whole, so I turned this pressing matter into a visual conceptualization that displays suffocation and human decline, all while facilitating insight. To strengthen the narrative, I incorporated real plastic pieces that humans use every day, while making my use of color and painting techniques reflect the accumulation of these plastics in the body over time. My work implores audiences not just to consider the subject, but to take action for their own livelihoods.
