“Absolute Form”

Audio Visual Video

Absolute Form emerges from my interest in the structural relationship between
exoplanet spectroscopy, transit light curves, and sound synthesis, where frequency and wavelength relationships allow numerical data to be translated directly in sonic parameters. Informed by exoplanet transit light curves and exoplanet spectroscopy AAVSO charts and ground-based observational data, I utilize relative flux values as the primary numerical input for both sonic and visual development, treating the dataset as a control for time-varying parameters rather than representational information. The visual half is constructed in Max/MSP/Jitter as a particle system influenced by transit model imagery and spectroscopic data, acting as both planetary body and atmosphere. The audio half is designed in Ableton Live through sound design processes mapped from the same dataset, where changes in density and motion within the particle system inform sonic development over time.
