Make the World Greta Again

The humanities can be described as the study of how people process and document the human experience. Since humans have been able, we have used philosophy, literature, religion, art, music, history and language to understand and record our world. In that light, no documentation of the contemporary human experience would be complete without addressing the issue of climate change / global warming.

Read “The Five Biggest Climate Stories of 2021” from Scientific American.

Watch Make the World Greta Again (33:46)

Consider this:

  1. If indeed the issue of climate change is as critical to the wellbeing of the planet as most scientists suggest, what are you going to do (as a private citizen) to alleviate the problem?
  2. Though the mitigation of climate change on a global scale is a profoundly complicated matter, based on your awareness of that concern, what first steps would you take, if you were in a government leadership role, to combat the issue?
  3. In terms of ethics, do you think that human beings have a fundamental responsibility to help one another–and by extension help the planet?
  4. What are some of the biggest obstacles that make it difficult for world leaders to come together to solve the problem of climate change in your estimation?
  5. If you could say something right now to world leaders on the subject of climate change / global warming, what would you tell them?
